Plant Operator / Maintenance Mechanic
The Borough of Hightstown is seeking a full-time Plant Operator / Maintenance Mechanic for its Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant. This non-supervisory position assists with wastewater treatment plant operations, preventative maintenance, equipment repair, and general upkeep of plant facilities, pump stations, and the sewer collection system. The position requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D., possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license, and be willing to complete required safety and operational training. Work may involve physical labor, confined spaces, working around treatment processes, occasional overtime or emergency response, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and being able to lift up to 50 pounds; required safety procedures and training will be provided. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience in accordance with Borough policy. Custodian
Custodian – Borough of Hightstown (Mercer County). The Borough of Hightstown is seeking a part-time Custodian to perform routine cleaning and light maintenance duties in municipal buildings. The position is hourly, approximately 5–10 hours per week, with a schedule limited to evening hours after Borough offices have closed. Responsibilities include cleaning offices, hallways, restrooms, and public areas; emptying trash and recycling; replenishing supplies; and setting up or cleaning up after meetings or events as needed. Prior custodial or maintenance experience is preferred but not required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and able to work independently. No benefits are provided. Laborer
The Borough of Hightstown Department of Public Works is seeking a Laborer to perform a wide range of manual and semi-skilled public works duties, including road and grounds maintenance, snow and ice control, building and facility upkeep, and assistance with construction, repair, and sanitation activities. Under the direction of supervisory staff, the position involves physical labor such as lifting, digging, loading and unloading materials, operating hand and power tools, and assisting with the operation of public works vehicles and equipment. Applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D., possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license, and be able to lift up to 100 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. A CDL (Class A or B) is preferred but not required. Water Treatment Plant Operator
Water Treatment Plant Operator
The Borough is seeking a qualified Water Treatment Plant Operator to oversee the daily operation and maintenance of its water treatment facility. Under general supervision, the operator is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient purification of water for public and industrial use. Duties include but not limited to; monitoring and adjusting water flow, managing chemical treatment processes, maintaining equipment and facilities, collecting and recording water samples for regulatory compliance, and maintaining the water distribution system, including hydrants, meters, and water towers. This position requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to respond to operational issues as they arise. High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid driver’s license required. NJDEP T and/or W license preferred (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe) Prior experience in water treatment operations or related field preferred. Ability to respond to emergencies as needed.
Salary range: $18 – $27 per hour.

Driver/Laborer
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Driver/Laborer – Hightstown Borough, Mercer County. Under direction, drives truck with tandem/dual rear axles to collect/transport materials or equipment. Drives truck for road maintenance and construction work, snow plowing and ice control work. Must be available to work in all emergencies and willing to work in other departments when required. Perform other work such as road and landscape construction, building maintenance and repair work, grounds keeping laboring or other unskilled work. Must be responsible and detail oriented, have the ability to follow oral and written direction. Must be knowledgeable in the operation of various tools and mechanical equipment. Requires the ability to lift 100 pounds. Must be able to read and write the English language. Valid NJ Driver’s License is required; Class B CDL is required.
