HIGHTSTOWN AWARDED $746,500.00 NJDOT 2018 MUNICIPAL AID GRANT

Grant will fund Improvements to Lincoln Avenue, Hagemount Avenue & Rocky Brook Court

Hightstown, NJ, DATE: February 26, 2018

Mayor Lawrence Quattrone announced that the Borough of Hightstown has been awarded a NJDOT Municipal Aid Grant in the amount of $746,500.00 for improvements to Lincoln Avenue, Hagemount Avenue, and Rocky Brook Court in the Borough of Hightstown.

Mayor Quattrone noted that the Borough Council was very thoughtful in their decision as to what project to include in the application for the grant. After carefully reviewing the needs for infrastructure improvements, Lincoln Avenue, Hagemount Avenue, and Rocky Brook Court were determined to be a top priority; and it is apparent that the Department of Transportation agrees. This project will include replacement of deteriorated curb, new sidewalk where possible and where none exist, and mill and overlay with repairs as necessary, as well as the upgrade of existing inlets to meet NJDOT Bicycle Safe Grate Standards and NJDEP Stormwater Regulations. This grant is very competitive and there were 656 applications submitted requesting more than $298M in funding from NJDOT’s $161.25M in available funds.

Mayor Quattrone commended Ms. Carmela Roberts, Borough Engineer, in crafting the grant application.
