Plant Operator / Maintenance Mechanic

The Borough of Hightstown is seeking a full-time Plant Operator / Maintenance Mechanic for its Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant. This non-supervisory position assists with wastewater treatment plant operations, preventative maintenance, equipment repair, and general upkeep of plant facilities, pump stations, and the sewer collection system. The position requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D., possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license, and be willing to complete required safety and operational training. Work may involve physical labor, confined spaces, working around treatment processes, occasional overtime or emergency response, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and being able to lift up to 50 pounds; required safety procedures and training will be provided. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience in accordance with Borough policy.
